MSU President Pans Furlough Idea

“Montana State University President Waded Cruzado said Tuesday she is opposed to furloughing university workers as a way to trim a university budget expected to shrink this year,” reports the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. "It is fair to say I do not believe in furloughs as a way to confront our budget constraints," she told the Chronicle after a brief meeting with the 25-member board tasked with making budget recommendations to the president. "I'm sure the committee will identify other ways." Furloughs would require faculty and staff to take time off without pay, a move Cruzado said would hurt employees.
